About Southbank

Formerly an industrial area, Southbank Melbourne has now been rejuvenated and forms an integral part of the city's culture and entertainment.

Stretching along the southern bank of the Yarra River, Southbank encompasses the Southgate Arts and Leisure Precinct and Crown Entertainment Complex.

Southgate is Melbourne's main entertainment hub and is home to upmarket shops, restaurants and chic cafes.

It has been designed with an emphasis on alfresco style dining and sidewalk entertainment and there is a market held along the footways every Sunday morning.

Just as significant as Southgate, Crown Entertainment Complex makes up a crucial part of the Southbank precinct, and like Southgate houses several boutiques including designer stores Prada, Versace, Louis Vuitton and Burberry.

Also seen as a diners' paradise, Crown Entertainment Complex is home to over 40 restaurants including celebrity chef Neil Perry's Rockpool Bar & Grill.

The Crown Entertainment Complex features more than 30 bars and nightclubs making it a hotspot for clubbers, and only five minutes from the city centre means it's easily accessible.
